Jacquelyn Kay (Coover) Nuyen

November 22, 1923 — September 1, 2020

Peacefully passed away at Rose Arbor on Tuesday evening, September 1, 2020. Jacquelyn was born November 22, 1923 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Robert and Thelma Coover. She lived all her life in Kalamazoo working at The UpJohn Company beginning at the age of eighteen. She then met and married her husband Norman Nuyen. At that time, her life's work became her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was adored by many mostly because of her ability to always listen, remembering and asking. She was interested in others and even when she had very little variance to her days she could carry on an intelligent conversation. She was fierce, smart, and stubborn. She was true Grandmotherly love. Westwood United Methodist Church was her home away from home. She belonged to every group that existed including many years of delivering Meals on Wheels. She was an avid reader of all books but could talk the Bible backwards and forwards. She loved her crocheting, playing cards and going for Sunday drives in the good car. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Nuyen; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Nuyen; and son-in-law Curtis Flowers all of Kalamazoo. She is survived by her stepson, Ronald Nuyen of Portage; daughter, Linda Flowers of Cooper Township; two granddaughters and their spouses, Jennifer (Mark) Culley and Emily (Steven) Freitag; six great-granddaughters, Adrienne, Alexa and Sofia Culley and Olivia, Kaitlyn and Natalie Freitag; and many nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held on Friday, September 4th in Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Dan Minor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Westwood United Methodist Church. Services entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
