GERNAAT, Jack R.
of Kalamazoo Jack Gernaat, born October 25, 1935, went to God's everlasting arms on January 17, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife Suzanne, who cared for him through the challenges of Alzheimer's. He is also survived by a loving circle of family and friends; John and Lynn Gernaat, Bill and Allie DeGroot, Claudia Blahnik, Frank and Judi Southwell, Ron and Muriel Kloosterman, Dr. Warren Lammers, Don and JoAnn Irwin; his sister, Helen and Bob Ferguson; brother, Ken and Lois Gernaat; and children Catherine, Deb, and Mark. Jack taught technologies for 30 years at KVCC and touched the lives of many students. He was also an accomplished bowler and a master craftsman who built custom homes, beautiful furniture and wood-turning projects. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 21, at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Rd, from 11:30-12:45. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 o'clock with Rev. Dr. Warren H. Lammers officiating. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Great Lakes Hospice. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick.
