Ivan passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at the age of 62. He was born August 11, 1953 in Kalamazoo to Thomas and Mary (Buell) Lawson. Ivan retired after serving 30 years at the Kalamazoo State Hospital. Among some of his interests, he had a love for stock car racing and enjoyed cooking for his family. Ivan is survived by his children, Matthew Lawson, Jennifer Lawson and Brian (Crystal) Lawson; a grandson, Evan Lawson; his mother, Mary Lawson; siblings, Phillip Lawson and Marsha Bosma; nieces, Alicia and Brittany Bosma ; and the mother of his children, Debbie Lawson. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, in 2009. A memorial service will take place Monday, August 31, 2015, 11:00 am at Portage Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Rev. Patricia Catellier will officiate. Immediately following the service, the family will greet friends and family in the church fellowship hall. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
