Passed away on Tuesday morning, December 29, 2015 at his home. He was born on April 1, 1949 in Caldwell, TX, the son of Salvador and Guadalupe (Torres) Olivarez. On August 15, 1970, Chavelo was married to Rosalinda Johnson. He was employed by The Upjohn Co. (Pfizer) for over 30 years until his retirement. Chavelo was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing at The Ranch. He also enjoyed working on many projects and building sheds. Chavelo was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed attending many sporting events, including softball and baseball games. Surviving are his wife of 45 years: Rosalinda Olivarez; two daughters: Chavela Olivarez and Elisa Cohle (Corey); niece: Maria Lucinda Corradini (Jason) and her children: Angelina, Jasmine and Gabriel; ten adopted grandchildren: Jacob, Zech, Alyssa, Seth, Adrian, Marisol, Gabriel, Yvette, Miranda and Makayla; five brothers: Sammy Olivarez, Sal Olivarez, Julio Olivarez, Filemon Olivarez and Johnny Garth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a sister: Anita Barelas and two brothers: Pablo and Lupe Olivarez. Visitation will be from 1-2pm on Saturday, Jan. 2, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with service beginning at 2:00 PM at the funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Loaves and Fishes.
