Went to be with Jesus, peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the age of 81. He was born August 28, 1934 in Comstock, MI. His parents were Anna Hutt Cramer, Albert Cramer and Ann Stryker Cramer. On September 20, 1957, he was united in marriage to Darlene Van Den Bos. Herm was a wonderful husband, beloved dad to 7 sons and daughters, and adored grandpa to 8 grandchildren who consider him their hero. He was a constant and loyal friend to many, the best Uncle Herm ever to many nieces and nephews and their families. Herman served in the U.S. Army from November of 1953 until honorably discharged in October of 1955. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending and cheering at Michigan football games. He coached and starred in fast-pitch softball and supported his kids and grandkids in all their activities. He retired from Consumers Power Co. after 39 years. Herm was a member of Comstock Christian Reformed Church where he served faithfully. Herman enjoyed life and family. Every person he ever met was touched by his incredible love of life and laughter. Herman is survived by his wife, Darlene Cramer; children, Keith (Martha) Cramer, Karla (Chris) Polli, Dale Cramer, and Dwain (Becky) Cramer; 8 grandchildren, Aaron, Alex, Marcus, Matthew, Jake, Kaylee, Stephen and Patrick; 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Henrietta (Roger) Linders, Bernadine Dykstra, John (Betty) Cramer, Dean (Joanne) Cramer and Allen (Sally) Cramer; sister-in-law, Muriel Cramer; and many nieces and nephews. Herman was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon and Walter Cramer; brother-in-law, John Dykstra; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Cramer. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, April 12th from 5-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 13th, 10:30am at Comstock Christian Reformed Church, 5300 Comstock Ave., Kalamazoo. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Herman's name may be directed to Comstock Christian Reformed Church.
