Henry Griffioen

GRIFFIOEN, Henry
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the age of 88. He was born July 29, 1925 in Kalamazoo a son of Gerrit and Bertha VanElk Griffioen. He was a faithful member of Second Christian Reformed Church where he enjoyed attending. He leaves behind his son, Dan Wendy Griffioen, his daughter, Mary Thomas Mitchell, his son, Larry Tonya Griffioen and daughter, Jane David Visser of Kalamazoo. He also leaves behind his dear grandchildren, Adam Angela Mitchell, Philip Whitney Mitchell, Gwendolyn Timothy Buffinga, Mindy and Bradley Griffioen, Brandon Jennifer Visser, Aaron Crystal Visser and Christian Visser; step-grandchildren, Jordan Lindsey VanBelle, Elissa VanBelle and Colin VanBelle; 4 great grandsons, Nicholas, Zachary and Nathan Mitchell, and Kenny Griffioen; and sisters-in-law, Jean and Lillian Griffioen. Henry was preceded in death by his dear wife, Jean H. Griffioen; parents, Gerrit and Bertha; step-grandson, Aaron VanBelle; brothers, John and Chris Griffioen; and sister, Johanna DiBella. In previous years, he enjoyed traveling, going to Europe, Alaska, Mexico, Jamaica and many places throughout the United States. He was a true child of God and loved being with his family. Family will greet friends on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 3-5pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Oshtemo, where services will take place on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11:00. Rev.Dr. Warren E. Lammers officiating. A private burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
