Helen S. Jenkins

Helen passed away on Friday afternoon, October 30, 2015 at Borgess Medical Center. She was born on May 21, 1926 in Hatfield, IN, the daughter of Frederick and Leta (West) Harris. On May 4, 1944, she was united in marriage to Paul E. Jenkins. She was employed by Kalamazoo Public Schools for 16 years. Surviving are five children, Jim (Joan) Jenkins, Dan (Christy) Jenkins, Barb (Jim) Short, Mark (Sonya) Jenkins, and Phillip Jenkins; daughter-in-law, Sue Jenkins; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Webster; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 68 years, Paul Jenkins on July 26, 2012; son, Harold Jenkins; her parents; two sisters, Gertrude Kerr and Dorothy LoBretto; and one grandchild. Honoring Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. Helen's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Alamo Nursing Home, where she resided for the past several years, for their care and compassion given to both Helen and her family.
