DRENTEN, Helen L.

Helen Louise Drenten (Yount) passed away at her home on December 24, 2019. She was born on July 27 of 1927 to the late Wallace and Johanna Yount. A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, Helen graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and went on to marry her beloved husband, David Drenten in 1950. She was a former elevator operator at the Hanselman building in Kalamazoo but she loved being a devoted housewife and mother to her two children. She was also an avid roller skater at the Silver Star Rolling Rink. Helen loved her crafts; she won several ribbons for her quilting, handmade dolls and paintings at the Kalamazoo County Fair. She also loved all animals and her fur babies Spike and Mike. Helen also loved all of her flowers.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband David Drenten. She is survived by her son Donald Drenten and his wife Deb of Martin, her daughter Susan Followell and her husband Mark of Parchment, grandson Alex Followell and two step-grandsons, Eric and Travis Followell.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no further services are planned. Inurnment of Helen and David Drenten's cremains will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made in honor of Helen to the ASPCA or the Kalamazoo County Animal Shelter.
