Harriet (Groen) Pruitt

Harriet LaVonne (Groen) Pruitt, born May 18th 1941, left on her next journey to be with the Lord the morning of Sept 8th 2018. She was the oldest daughter of Cornelius and Gertrude Groen, immigrants of the Netherlands. She married Bill D Pruitt on Dec 26th, 1959 and raised 3 children Linda Mickel, Bill Pruitt Jr and Chad Pruitt. Harriet has 7 grandchildren - Danielle Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, Michael Reynolds, Bill Pruitt III. Drake Pruitt, Allison Pruitt and Casen Pruitt. She also had 3 great grandchildren - Caleb Nettles, Evan Nettles and Gavin Reynolds. She and Bill had shared 50 years of marriage before Bill passed suddenly. Harriet was a loving mother and homemaker in her early years. She later went back to college as an adult and became an accountant. She grew very large gardens at their small farm in Vicksburg, for which she was able to feed her family fresh vegetables year round and teach her children entrepreneurship at a young age with a roadside vegetable stand. She loved family gatherings and was known for her homemade soups and excellent potato salad. She loved watching football, mysteries, and NCIS. She was an avid student of the bible, filling hers with highlights and notes from front to back. Harriet came from a very large loving family. Her brothers and sisters include Gerrit Groen, Betty Achterhoff (deceased), Joyce Smeenk, Glenda Miller and John Groen. She will dearly be missed by many.
