Died Thursday morning, November 12, 2015 at the age of 94. Ruth was born November 30, 1920 in Paulding, OH, the daughter of the late Grover and Eva (Keck) Grandstaff. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1951 and was employed with J.C. Penney for 20 years before retiring. She was also a member of the Parchment United Methodist Church. On October 25, 1944, she was united in marriage to Doyle W. Deerwester who preceded her in death in November of 2008. Surviving are her 3 children, Jeanne Milham, Linda Tarner and Laura Deerwester; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Private burial will take place in Genesee Prairie Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Parchment United Methodist Church.
