Gloria Jean (Brown) Carlson passed away unexpectedly on June 18 from significant complications of a stroke. She was born on November 5, 1942 in Indiana. The daughter of the late Sam and Edna (Spigle) Brown. On March 2, 1963, she was united in marriage to Daniel L. Carlson. Prior to his passing in 2016, they spent countless hours enjoying quality time with family, walking on the beaches of Lake Michigan with their dogs and enjoying their antique business in Mattawan.
Gloria was a devoted air-force wife, loving sister and grandmother and a remarkable mother (always sending prayers, support and amazing care packages for her children in the Navy). She enjoyed cultivating her flowers, reading, church, her dogs, antiquing with her son Todd and daughter-in-law Samantha, special time with Pungo Roo (one of her grand-pups) and frequent adventures with her daughter Melissa. Her love and devotion to her children was endless; and continues to prevail in her legacy and memories.
She will be missed beyond measure; and lives on forever in our hearts!
Surviving are three children, Todd (Samantha) Carlson of Kalamazoo, Melissa Carlson of Kalamazoo and Christine (Garrett) Schouwburg of Mattawan; two grandchildren, Danielle and William Schouwburg; sister, Joy (Brown) Joseph, and sisters-in-law, Bobbie Carlson and Faye Brown. Additionally, several nieces and a nephew.
Preceding in death are her parents; her husband, Dan Lee Carlson; her sister, Micki Mohr; and brother, Sam Brown.
