Climax George Allen Roe, beloved husband, dad, grandpa and friend to all who truly knew him, passed into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, October 20, 2013. He was born to Fred and Genette Ady on Feb. 26, 1939. He lived most of his life in the Scotts/Climax area. In his early years, he was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman who truly loved the outdoors and lived life with zest to the fullest. On May 25, 1991, he married his true love, Karen Barkley and together they enjoyed gardening, traveling and just being together with family. His Bluegrass, sports, woodworking and faithful, beloved pets were all important. His ready smile and kind, gentle heart made him a friend to all. He is survived by his wife; sons, Matthew Jody Barkley, Russell Rebecca Barkley and Jeffrey Barkley; special grandsons, Wesley and Kyle Barkley and Ben Wilcox; daughters, Tracey Loveland, Catrina Todd Korteway and Shannon Mike Hamilton; six grandchildren; brother, Howard Mary Ann Roe; sisters, Elizabeth De Merrill and Mary Wood; sister-in-law, Audrey Roe; several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, John. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2013 in the Climax United Methodist Church, 133 E. Maple St., with Pastor Dennis Veen Kant officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple St. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Climax-Scotts Football Program, the Humane Society or the charity of one's choice.
