George Laverne Peacock

Passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the age of 68. He was born December 11, 1947 in Plainwell, MI to the late John and Pearl (Hutchinson) Peacock. George graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School as well as Western Michigan University. George was commissioned in the U.S. Army out of the ROTC program in 1971 and served for over 30 years until retirement when he was honorably discharged in 2001. George was a very active alumni volunteer at the ROTC program at WMU as well as various Veterans programs in the area. George is survived by his sister, Sharon (Scott) Averill; niece, Stacy (Dann) Kessel and their daughter, Abby; nephew, Kellen (Erika Bouwman) Averill and their son, Chase Bouwman. The family will greet friends on Friday, December 16th from 10-11:00 AM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorials in George's name may be directed to the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, MI (Attn: General Purpose Fund).
