Passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015. Age 82. George was born in Yonkers, N.Y. on September 16, 1932, the son of the late George and Florence Collier Lawrance. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. George loved his job, working as a welder for General Motors. He retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Andrews Community Church. He enjoyed boating, bowling, golfing, traveling and spending time with friends. George is survived by his loving wife, Doris Muller Lawrance; two sons and one daughter, Brian K. Lawrance, Todd K. Lawrance and Tammy R. Michael DeBruyne; four grandchildren, Amanda DeBruyne, Thomas Meghan DeBruyne, Jacob DeBruyne and Joshua DeBruyne; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Stone; one brother and two sisters, Donald Lawrance, Dorothy Jim Liso and Nancy Bill Farrell. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Lawrance. Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with the family from 2 - 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Dyke will officiate. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park at a later date.
