On Monday, August 3, 2020, Gail Havens passed away peacefully in Tampa, Florida at the age of 82. Gail was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on August 22, 1937 to Harold and Retha Havens. She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Huff and her parents. She is survived by her nieces, Gail Huff and Laura Marolf, as well as many lifelong friends.
Gail taught Textile and Apparel classes in the Family and Consumer Science Department at Western Michigan University. Her family and friends benefited from her sewing and knitting talents as they frequently received beautiful clothes, incredible quilts, charming placemats and napkins, or the ever-needed dishcloths. She also enjoyed spending time at her home on Great Bear Lake in Grand Junction, Michigan. She was known for her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit.
Gail was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, a member of the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and a Charter member of the Kalamazoo Chapter of the American Sewing Guild.
