Of Portage Went to be with her beloved past family members on Wednesday afternoon, April 28, 2010. She was born October 16, 1929 at the home of her parents, Lillie and Clayton Palmiter, and lived there all the time until she was married to her loving husband, Robert J. Perry, also of Kalamazoo. Frances was a full time wife and mother, and her family kept her busy. During one of her residences she was a member of the 20th Century Club, serving as Treasurer. She was fond of many arts and crafts, including sewing, gardening, needlepoint, and when living in Alabama participated in several craft shows selling hand painted sweatshirts, at the hospital bazaar. Frances and Bob were married February 16, 1952, at Kalamazoo First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed fifty eight years of marriage. This marriage produced four wonderful children, Linda William Maslanka, Dawn William Ratz, Mark Perry, and Kay Dennis VanOosten. She is survived by two sisters, Helen Goldsmith and Janis Meinert. She has one grand-daughter, Sandra Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie and Clayton Palmiter; her in-laws, William and Ann Perry; grand-daughter, Leigh Megan Martin; grandson, Billy Ratz; nephew, Matthew Meinert; brother-in-laws, Lewis Meinert and David Goldsmith; and beloved aunts, Blanche Meek, and Bernice Vandevegaet. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 1:00 o'clock Tuesday, May 4, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service from 12-1:00 at the Portage Chapel. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
