Evalyn R. DeForest

DE FOREST, Mrs. Evalyn "Bunny" R. Kalamazoo, MI Went home to be with her Lord on 11/25/2010. Born in Lowell, Ml, on Dec. 16, 1926, Evalyn spent most of her life in Kalamazoo, graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School. Her parents were 0. Thomas and Iva D. Maxson Buntaine. Preceding her in death were her brother Paul K. Buntaine and a very special aunt, Eva Maxson Harrington. She retired from the Kalamazoo YMCA after 40 years, where she met her husband Garold. They were married 55 years and he preceded her in death in 2005. They had three daughters: Diane L. Dr. Robert Suder of Austin, TX; Marsha A. Duane Markle and Kathleen D. Philip Maneikis of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a niece. Evalyn was very active in her church, and she also helped many people in the community in a variety of ways. A memorial service will be held 1 o'clock Monday at the Westwood Church of God, 811 Gorham Lane, Kalamazoo with Pastor Gary Ausbun officiating. Private graveside services were held in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family prior to the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Westwood Church of God Memorial Fund or Friends of Staff at Senior Services, in memory of Evalyn DeForest.
