YAX, Esther Eva
Of Kalamazoo Went to be with her Lord Monday morning, December 13, 2010. Esther was born March 21, 1918, in Oshtemo Township, the daughter of Fred and Imo Rhodes Sowles and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 28 years with the Gilmore's Department Store and was a member of the Valleyview Bible Church. Her passion was greeting cards for all occasions and sewing. On September 20, 1936 Esther was united in marriage to Walter Yax who preceded her in death on December 5, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Pauline and Dorothy. Surviving are her children, Lillian Stewart, Richard Yax, Nancy Bill Yates; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A service to celebrate Esther's life will be held at 2:00 o'clock Sunday, December 26, at the Valleyview Bible Church, 8946 West Main with a time of fellowship immediately following. Private family interment will be at a later date in West Oshtemo Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Valleyview Bible Church. Flowers may be delivered to Valleyview Bible Church December 26.
