of Portage, Michigan Passed away October 8, 2014 at age 93. Esther was born April 25, 1921 in Decatur, MI to the late Abraham and Effie De Boer Vander Molen. She was united in marriage to Douglas Van Eck on December 12, 1947, who preceded her in death on December 7, 1999. Esther is survived by her son, Joel Debra Van Eck of Kalamazoo; 2 grandchildren, Kelsey Van Eck and Lindsay Van Eck; step-grandchildren, Willie Miller and Jenny DeRyke; several step-great grandchildren; sisters, Gertrude Nap and Alice Stanton; brother, Richard Betty Vander Molen; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding her in death were; a son, Daniel Van Eck; 3 sisters and 2 brothers. A funeral service will take place Monday, October 13th, 11:00am at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Rev. Kevin Hart officiating. The family will greet friends for 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to Portage Senior Services, 320 Library Ln., Portage, MI 49002.
