Elliot & Evelyn Blackport

Evelyn Blackport, age 4, and Elliot Blackport, age 7, tragically died on October 9, 2023. Elliot James was born on March 2, 2016, and Evelyn Danielle was born on January 25, 2019, they are the children of Duane Blackport Jr. “D.J.” and Amy Yearian.

Elliot’s autism was piqued by several interest which included watching & listening to ASMR videos & long tractor rides with Grandpa.  One of his favorite things was to be Daddy’s little handyman when it came to using hammers, screwdrivers & especially power tools.  Elliot was sneaky and often stole hats and sunglasses from the people he loved the most. He will be remembered most by his unforgettable character, making messes and playing with his younger sisters.

Evelyn's most favorite thing would be to spend hours coloring, hours were spent at the table or kitchen counter with her pencils, crayons & coloring books. She loved balloons and bubbles, but most of all it was spreading her infectious laughter to those around her. She was always such a happy helper, whether it was helping mommy & daddy or her siblings. Evelyn loved Elliot the most, they had a bond that would never be broken in life or in death, their love was like no other. They truly had a special way to communicate between themselves, sometimes it would be through their shenanigans or the ways she knew how to get under his skin, but loved him greater than he would ever know. They were always together & they will be forever missed.

Their family includes their parents Duane Blackport Jr. & Amy Yearian; their sister, Eden Ann; their grandparents: Brandy & Keith Paddock, Duane & Sue Blackport; their great-grandparents: Beverly Taft and Dean & Paulette Maxam; their aunts and uncles: Jerrica Blackport, Eric & Victoria (Blackport) Follman, Eric & Danielle (Yearian) Bartocci; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 on Friday, October 13th. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14th, at 1:00 PM, at New Apostolic Church, 3600 West Milham Avenue, Portage, with Evangelist Peter Cook officiating. Family will greet friends prior to the funeral from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM.
