Portage, MI Beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014. Age 93. Ella was born in Neche, North Dakota on April 8, 1920, the daughter of the late Albert and Marie Wolther Heidmann. She was a registered nurse and devoted caregiver for many. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Ella was married to the Rev. Edwin C. Wagstaff on May 28, 1946; he preceded her in death on June 25, 1988. She is survived by six children and their spouses, Sharon Harry Biles of Berlin, MD, Ralph Linda Wagstaff of Royal Oak, MI, Joan Jim Oleson of St. Joseph, MI, Heidi Jim Heater of Savannah, GA, Mark Sandy Wagstaff of Otsego, MI and Lisa Steve Creed of Portage, MI; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rex Melita Heidmann; two sisters-in-law, Dorothea Heidmann and Barbara Heidmann; and numerous other dear family members. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Gerd Heidmann, Kurt Heidmann, Armin Carol Heidmann, Albert Claire Heidmann and Herman Alice Heidmann. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1747 W. Milham Avenue, Portage, MI 49024. Rev. Paul Nuechterlein will officiate. Private interment will take place in Portage South Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, Portage, MI 49002. Friends may also visit with the family at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, to be directed to the ELCA Hunger Fund or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
