Elizabeth Ann DeKoekkoek

Elizabeth Ann DeKoekkoek, age 85 entered in the arms of her Savior at Friendship Village in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 3, 2022, after a long health struggle. Eliz was born in Parchment, Michigan on April 18, 1937, to William and Grace (Medendorp) DeKoekkoek as their 6 ^th child and their first daughter. She attended Plainwell schools, received her diploma in 1955 and started working in the hospital until gaining employment at Brown Paper Company. When Brown Company downsized, she started working for Graff Trucking Company and remained there until her retirement.

She enjoyed traveling to different places including the “sisters’ trips”. She also enjoyed her summer place at Sandy Pines and a variety of crafts.

She was preceded in death by her father William in 2002; her mother Grace in 2014; her eldest brother Lawrence in 2014; her brother-in-law Tom VanDyke in 2000; sisters-in-law Anne DeKoekkoek in 2014 and Mary DeKoekkoek in 2019.

She is survived by her brothers Joe (Eleanor) DeKoekkoek, Bob DeKoekkoek, Ed (RuthAnn) DeKoekkoek, George (Joanne) DeKoekkoek, Charlie (Dianne) DeKoekkoek, Roger (Barb) DeKoekkoek; sisters Judy VanDyke, Peachy Grace (Norm) Schut, Linda (Bob) Dirkse, Vicki (Bob) Secrist; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9 ^th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Immanuel Fellowship Church, 6015 West H Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Rev. Gary DeKoekkoek will officiate the service. Following the service friends are invited to join the family for a reception at the church. Interment will take place East Cooper Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Friday.
