Edith Scharlach

Edith "Carolyn" Scharlach, 79, formerly of Remington, IN and Lake Wales, Fl, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in Michigan, where she had resided for the past year. Carolyn was born November 13, 1931 in Benton County, Indiana, the daughter of Jacob and Edith Julin Franson. Carolyn was employed by the US Postal Service for 20 years until her retirement. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Ray L. Scharlach of Portage, MI; three children, Terry Scharlach of Nicaragua, Connie Scharlach of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Patti Tom King of Portage, MI; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ellen Mancuso of Springfield, TN and Amy LaGue of Brookston, IN. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Oscar, Richard and Edmund Franson and three sisters, Vera and Lillian Franson and Iris Trachsel. Honoring Carolyn's wishes, cremation has taken place and private family services will take place at a later date.
