KNAUSS, Durwood M. Durwood passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the age of 85. He was born August 14, 1929, to the late Miles and Lillie Fisher Knauss. He was united in marriage to Maedonna "Donna" Goldsmith on May 7, 1954. Durwood had many interests but his favorite activity was to take Donna dancing. He also loved to go camping and fishing with family and close friend Earl Wright. He was also known to be a good-natured gentleman, a man to have never met a stranger. He worked for the Brown Company for nearly 23 years as a pressman and later went to work for The Upjohn Company as a tablet compressor, where he retired after nearly 20 years. Durwood is survived by his wife, Maedonna Knauss; children, Terry Knauss, Susan John Maartens, Pamela Raymond Peters and Timothy April Knauss; 9 grandchildren, Barbara, Angela, Joseph, Tiffany, Dustin, Shawn, Michelle, Amanda and Emily; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Hambright; many step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by brothers, Carol Knauss and Paul Knauss. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, December 30th from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, where a funeral service will take place on Friday, January 2nd, at 10:00am. A private burial will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. The family would like to extend their thanks for the wonderful care given by the caregivers at Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
