Douglas Bishop

Douglas Lee Bishop, age 74, entered into glory at his home on Monday, January 1, 2018. He was born on May 7, 1943 in Plainwell, MI a son of John and Margaret (DeYoung) Bishop. Doug graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School and was a member of Kalamazoo Protestant Reformed Church where he served as an elder. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ardis Mejeur, a daughter, Ginelle Bishop and a son, Chris Bishop. On July 13, 1962 Doug married the former Sarah J. Yff, who survives. Also surviving are eight children, Ryan Bishop, Bradley (Lisa) Bishop, Lane Bishop, Tracy (Nathan) VanOverloop, Margaret (Jordan) Schipper, John (Jessica) Bishop, Nelle (Richard) DeMeester and Austin Bishop; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Juhl, Sandra (Clarence) Tinklenberg and Nancy (Henry) Tuinstra; a brother-in-law, Alvin "Bud" Mejeur; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4th from 5 to 8p.m. at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Private interment services will be held in Hill Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1p.m. Friday, January 5th at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Road, with Rev. Michael DeVries officiating. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Protestant Reformed Church.
