Dorothy I. Ufkes

Passed away peacefully at home, February 23, 2012. She was born January 24, 1926 in Traverse City, MI to the late Buromeo and Zella Hickey. Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Ufkes on October 4, 1952, who preceded her in death in July of 2004. During her working years, Dorothy was employed with W.L. Molding, Gibson's and Plastic Engineering. Surviving Dorothy are her children, Carol Terry Martin and Patti Michael Hensley both of Portage; 5 grandchildren, Louann Neil Callahan, Terry Tami Martin, Jessica Steve Roe, Kristin Martin and Sarah Hensley; 6 great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding Dorothy in death were 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Services will take place Monday, February 27th at 1:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., where family will greet friends from 12-1:00 o'clock, one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Portage South Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
