Doris Irene Forbes of Schoolcraft, Michigan passed away April 10th, 2017, joining her parents along with her brother Ernest "Pete" Maidment in heaven. Doris was born January 5, 1935 in Standish, Michigan a daughter of Claude and Gertrude (Rulason) Maidment. She married Leonard Forbes in 1958 and less than a year later welcomed a daughter Cynthia Ann Forbes. Throughout their life they loved to travel. In retirement they enjoyed living in Traverse City, Michigan and Naples, Florida. In 2002 they moved to Schoolcraft to be closer to their grandchildren. Always being present at skating competitions, baseball, soccer and lacrosse games. She was a loving wife to Leonard, Mom to Cynthia (Steve) Schiebel of Portage, Michigan, Sister-In-Law to Donna Maidment of Linden, Michigan and Grandmother to Kara Schiebel of Nashville, Tennessee, Ryan (Kasey Watson) Schiebel of Everett, Washington and Shane Schiebel of Portage, Michigan. Doris was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Gertrude Maidment, brother Pete Maidment and special friends Gordon and Vivian Short. Services will be held 3 o'clock Monday, April 17th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Visitation will be 1-3 pm at the chapel. Private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Arthritis Foundation or The American Red Cross.
