Don passed away on Sunday morning, June 10, 2018 at his home. He was born on December 12, 1929 in Allegan, MI, the son of Clarence and Florence (Sharpe) Smith. Don was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was employed for 15 years as a state trooper for the Michigan State Police and 20 years for Morren Poultry until his retirement. On April 19, 1983, he was united in marriage to Juanita (Godsey) Smith, who survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters and their spouses: Terri and Terry Dingman, Debbie and Ray LeZotte, and Chris and Bob Carlton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and son: Scott Smith in 2015. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Committal services with military honors will be at 2:30 PM on Monday, June 25, at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta.
