Waldron, Dian
of Kalamazoo, Michigan

Dian Fitzgerald Waldron of Kalamazoo, Michigan was taken home to heaven on January 27, 2021 at the age of 77. She was receiving hospice care in Dallas, Texas at the time of her death. Dian was born in Washington, Indiana on July 10, 1943 to the late Thomas Fitzgerald and Hertha (Brown) Smith, both of Salem IL.

Dian was a natural born student always making top marks in school and winning awards for her academic achievements. With a passion and love for medicine Dian attended Nursing School in Evansville, IN and graduated with honors. After graduation, she devoted her career to caring for the lives of others, specializing in critical care in the open-heart surgery unit of Borgess Medical Center where she served for 35 years. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Dian was always happy, loved being around family and had the keen ability to make everyone feel welcome. She always enjoyed Sunday afternoon convertible rides, attending antique car shows and toy shows with her husband, collecting dolls and holiday decorations. It was often said that Christmas Eve at Nana's house was a very special occasion where she made sure everyone was alive with the holiday spirit.

Dian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin Waldron and sister-in-law, Peggy Fitzgerald. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Waldron McGinnis and son-in-law Mark McGinnis; step-son, Steve Waldron and daughter-in-law Kathleen Waldron; step-daughter Patricia Ruszkowski and son-in-law Walt Ruszkowski; grandchildren: Michael (Andrea), Sam, Jack and Avery; great grandchildren: Scott and Josie, brothers: Michael Fitzgerald and sister-in-law Barbara Fitzgerald, Barney Fitzgerald and David Fitzgerald.

Due to gathering limitations, a private service will be held for Dian and her interment will take place at Bly Cemetery in Marcellus, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Please visit Debra's tribute wall to leave a condolence, personal message or memory of her.

A letter to my mom:
Mom how do I write down all that you were and all that you gave to us and how do I say how much is in my heart. Your love was precious, your smile was everlasting and your joy was contagious. Thank-you for always looking at the world with such a childlike magic and teaching everyone around you to do the same. I will miss you forever and love you beyond this world. I know you are dancing now in heaven and riding in a cherry red convertible with your name on the plates seeking out every sunset and passing out smiles to everyone you meet. Rest in peace my lovely Mother. I love you more. -Debra
