Dennis passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born on August 21, 1956 in Lansing, the son of Wesley and June Marcille (Mills) Knapp. He grew up in Bay City and was a 1974 graduate of Bay City Central High School. Dennis moved to Kalamazoo in 1979 to attend Western Michigan University. On October 20, 1978, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Ciaciuch. Dennis was employed by the State of Michigan until his retirement. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Mary Lou Knapp; their three children, Josh (Karly) Knapp of Troy, Gabe Knapp of Portage and Stephanie (Cory) Lombard of Portage; four grandchildren, Tyrus, Alexis, Carsten and Alayna; mother, Marcille Knapp of Lansing; brother, Patrick Knapp of Lansing; sister-in-law, Chris Knapp of Haslett; nephew, Brendan (Ann); and niece, Erin. Preceding him in death were his father, Wesley Knapp and brother, Randy Knapp. Friends may visit with Dennis' family from 4-8 PM on Friday, Oct. 9, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo. A funeral service to celebrate Dennis' life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, 1809 Romence Road, with Rev. Rodney Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Portage South Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, Force for Christ Orphan Outreach, or his family's wishes.
