Darrell Sloniker passed away at his home Tuesday, April 26, 2022. He was born July 10, 1942, in Osgood, IA; son of Harry and Elsie (Rhoades) Sloniker.
Darrell graduated from Emmetsburg High School and attended the University of Iowa. He served in the United States Army Military Police. Following his service, he was a General Motors employee for 31 years at the Fisher Body Plant in Willow Springs, IL, and the Kalamazoo Regional Accounting Center. Darrell loved his Minnesota family/fishing vacations, his Florida winter getaways, the family pets, and most of all the time spent with his grandchildren. He was truly a gentle man, always ready with an open hand and support for all his family and friends in need. Through his kindness and patience, and his quiet and loving strength, he taught us to be a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Rebecca "Becky" Sloniker; brother, Harry Sloniker, Jr; sisters, Darlene Tielbur and Eileen Harris; two infant siblings; brothers-in-law, Arlin Kulow, Kenny Murry, Cliff Harris, and Gene Snyder; sisters-in-law, Ruth Sloniker and Lynn Snyder; and in-laws, Joseph and Rosemary Uremovic. On February 4, 1967, Darrell married Marylin Uremovic and they were blessed with 55 years of marriage. His wife Marilyn Sloniker survives Darrell as well as his sons, Scott (Kara) Sloniker and Todd Sloniker (Kathryn Cole); grandchildren, Sydney Sloniker, Zachary Sloniker, Jacob Sloniker, Maddie Sloniker, and Emma Olson; sisters, Roberta Kulow and Dolores Murry; brother, Jerry Sloniker; and several nieces and nephews.
