Died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon June 16, 2018. Daniel was born March 28, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Alexander and Lillian (Brown) Nickrent. He married Linda Schlieter on December 18, 1963 and was happily married for 51 years (MTY-LTT). He served in honor with the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He lived in Allegan and Gobles most of his life and was employed with Consumer Energy for 32 years before retiring in 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda; and a brother, Randy Nickrent. He is survived by a son, Darrin (Christy) Nickrent of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Laura (Eric) Flynn of Kalamazoo; 2 sisters, Bernie (Bill) Sebright of Allegan and Janice Millirans of Battle Creek; 2 brothers, Jerry (Harriett) Nickrent and Ron (Ernestine) Nickrent all of Allegan; a sister in-law Ramona (Doug) VanMaaren of Lawton; 6 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 21st at Almena United Methodist Church 27503 CR375 Paw Paw. Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. with a memorial service following. In accordance of Dan and Linda's wishes, a private burial will take place in Colorado. Memorials may be directed to the Parkinson's Foundation or to the Susan B. Komen Foundation.
