Cornelia M. Schouwburg, age 75, went home to be with her Lord on December 18, 2018. Cornelia was born March 26, 1943 in The Netherlands, the daughter of Lubaurtus and Johanna (Hop) Luitjes. She immigrated to the United States in 1966 and settled in Kalamazoo. Cornelia worked as a beautician both in The Netherlands and in Kalamazoo. She was a longtime member of Bethany Reformed Church. Cornelia enjoyed interior decorating, antiques and loved spending special times with her family especially playing and being silly with her grandchildren.

On November 4, 1966 she was united in marriage to William H. Schouwburg, who preceded her in death on August 28, 1993. Surviving are her children Gerrit (Christine) Schouwburg and Joann (David) Postma; grandchildren Danielle Schouwburg, William Schouwburg, Joshua Postma and Hannah Postma; siblings Rende (Alli) Luitjes and Jre (Jap) Essenburg; in-laws, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 26th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 27th at the Portage Chapel with Rev. Rick Oppenhuizen officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
