Connie Lou McCarty, age 85, passed away April 29, 2016 in Kalamazoo. Connie was born May 3, 1930 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Charlie and Mary (Bird) Ross. She was a lifelong Kalamazoo resident who had been employed with the Kalamazoo County Clerk's Office and the KVP Corporation. Connie was a lifetime member of The Order of the Eastern Star and the Shriner Ladies. Throughout the years she enjoyed RV traveling, bowling in many leagues and was a member of the Kalamazoo Antique Car Club. Connie loved caring for her family and dearly loved her cats, especially the last two J.R. and Trixie. On January 20, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald J. McCarty who preceded her in death on April 23, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by four brothers, Charlie, Robert, Carl and Cleo Ross. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Lee McCarty of Kalamazoo; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4th from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, where a service to celebrate Connie's life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Connie's name may be directed to the Kalamazoo County Animal Shelter.
