On May 11, 2018 Chander Kanta Varma passed away at her home in Portage, Michigan. She was 86 years old. She had lived in the Kalamazoo area for 46 years.
Mrs. Varma graduated from Western Michigan University with a specialist degree in the teaching of accounting. She taught for several years at Southwestern Michigan Community College.
Mrs. Varma was an avid reader with many outside interests. She was an active member of the Indo-American Cultural Center and Temple.
She was the beloved wife of Lok Nath Varma who predeceased her in 2013. She is survived by her daughters Atul V. Dewan and Asim Varma, her son-in-law Dr. Brij Dewan, grandchildren Karuna Dewan and Sujay Dewan.
