Carol Louise (Webb) Hoeksema

December 10, 1938 — September 23, 2021

Scotts

Carol Louise Hoeksema age 82 went home to be with her Lord on Thursday September 23, 2021. Carol was born on December 10, 1938, the daughter of William and Edith Webb. Carol had four sisters, Edith Buckey (deceased), Jean Brown (deceased), Mary Porter and Marge Bruner and a brother William (Bubb) Webb (deceased). Carol attended Kalamazoo Public Schools and in 1960 married her high school sweetheart Lynn Mastenbrook. Carol and Lynn had two children, Mark Mastenbrook and Kim Mastenbrook (Westrate). Lynn Mastenbrook passed away in 1968 at the age of 28.

In 1972 Carol met Carl Hoeksema, a wonderful man God brought into her life via a "blind date" set up by mutual friends. They were married the same year and joined as one family with Carl's daughters, Judy Britten, Debra Hyet (deceased) and Karen Phillips.

Carol had eleven grandchildren; Scott McGee, Lisa (Dan McLain), David Hyet, Travis Britten, Aaron Mastenbrook, Rachel (Curtis) DeVries, Beth Westrate, Bryan Phillips, Collin Mastenbrook, Kevin Phillips, and Jason Westrate. She also had seven great grandchildren; Mahalia Hyet, Eleri, Rian, and Nash McLain, Nicolas, Caroline, and Annabelle DeVries. She loved spending time with her grandchildren; activities included craft projects, playing board games, sleepovers (including pillow fights with Grandpa), and watching grandpa work in his garden.

Carol did not work outside the home, however for many years she was the bookkeeper for Carl's business; Carl Hoeksema Greenhouses. She enjoyed reading, sewing and loved to knit and crochet. Over the years many of her beautiful projects were gifted to family and friends. In addition to her hobbies, Carol participated in several weekly Bible Study groups and cherished her time spent with other Christian women eager to learn God's word.

Carl and Carol lived on 26th Street in Scotts, Michigan for over 30 years. They had wonderful neighbors and were so thankful and grateful for their kindness, support, and willingness to lend a helping hand when they needed assistance. Carol loved to travel and she was thankful for the many, many trips she and Carl shared. One of their favorite places to go was Florida. For 25 years they spent the month of November in Englewood Beach where Carol enjoyed walking on the beach and collecting seashells. She was especially fond of the times when Carl's siblings and their spouses were able to join them and was grateful for the many memories they shared.

Carol was by her beloved husbands side when he entered heavens glory on October 28, 2018. She missed him more than words can say and longed to be with him again. Her family and friends will forever remember her deep faith and love for the Lord Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. To 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Avenue.
