HEILMAN, Carl G.
of Portage, Michigan Passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Carl was born December 12, 1917 in Reed City, MI, a son of the late H. Arthur and Nellie M. Richard Heilman. He served his country in the United States Army during WW II. Following that, he attended the Elgin School of Watch Making and used his skills as a watch repair person in Heilman's Jewelers, as well as, Venner's and Packer's Jewelers. He then attended school for the tool & die trade and worked for the Shakespeare Company, in Kalamazoo for 31 years. On January 24, 1946, he married M. Joy Herrin, who preceded him in death on November 16, 2007. He was also preceded by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Carl is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gene and JoAnn Heilman of Galesburg; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 1 great great grandchild; 1 sister; 1 brother; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A private committal service will be held at a later date.
