Burton J. Bird

Burton Jay Bird of Portage, Michigan passed away on January 17, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Kalamazoo County to Lloyd and Joyce (Stevens) Bird, Burton graduated from Schoolcraft High School.

Burton had many skills, as shows in his broad range of work experience. He was a machinist at Kalamazoo Tool, he worked at Theo and Stacy's, Upjohn food service, Aramark, and Alpha Delivery. His work was important to him, but he'd much rather have been cooking over an open fire on a camping trip or working on his latest project in the wood shop.

Burton was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Joyce, and one sister, Theresa Campbell. He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Tammy L. Gildea-Bird, children Bandon (Elizabeth) Gildea, Tenee (Jon Sides) Gildea, and Bronson (Angela Welch) Bird, and granddaughter LaRiya Gildea. His brother Lloyd (Lori) Bird, II and brother-in-law Michael Campbell survive, as do his sister in laws Jan Crow, Margaret Gildea and many nieces and nephews.

The family is planning to announce a celebration of life for this summer.
