SHOEMAKER, Mr. Bruce A.
Portage, MI Died Thursday morning March 24, 2011 at his residence. Bruce was born January 15, 1947 in Marion, Indiana a son of Warren and Bernice Glass Shoemaker. During the Vietnam War, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a lifelong Portage area resident and was employed with the Mill Assist Company, Otsego for 20 years, retiring in 2010. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents. On June 26, 2007, he was united in marriage to Kathy J. Truax Shoemaker who survives. Also surviving, 2 sons, Jeremy Carlton of Schoolcraft and Don Gettys of Lansing, MI; 3 grandchildren; a sister, JoHann Aldrich of Portage; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Graveside services will be held 11 o'clock Friday, April 1st in South Portage Cemetery with full military honors. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice.
