Brian W. "The Dude" Koss

Born 13 March 1949 in Kalamazoo MI along surviving brother Kurt (Sandy) Koss and deceased sister Cheryl Berndt. The Dude graduated from Portage Northern and was drafted into the Army. He endured a tour of service as a combat medic in Vietnam and earned the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in combat. After an Honorable Discharge he soon married Patricia Fagans from Philadelphia on 24 July 1970. The Dude provided for his family for 36 years laying rubber to every road in Michigan for Terminix. He is survived by his daughters; Jennifer (Cory) Hayden of South Bend IN, Kerry (Brent Richman) Koss of Portage MI and sons Casey Koss of Portage MI, Brian (Alicia) Koss of Kalamazoo MI, granddaughter Olivia Hotrum and grandson Tyler Koss. The Dude is taking it easy for all us sinners. We will remember him for what he was; a man devoted to family, principle, and sports. He loved his children and was a fixture in their everyday lives. Fathering only four he was a dad to many. He opened his home to any in need becoming the manager of the Koss Motel. Many more knew him as the coach or an umpire. His encyclopedic knowledge of sports was available to any that wanted to listen and even to those that didn't. He roared with the Tigers, yelled at the Lions, and pumped his fist to Hail the Victors. His love and knowledge of sports may only be trumped by his love of music. He was a jukebox at one moment and a quicker answer than google to "who sings this?" the next, Dude always knew it. If he saw a neighbor carrying something he would always help them with their load. He was always quick with a joke or to light up your smoke but there is someplace better that he has to be.

The world is a lesser place in his absence.
