Betty Jean DeVries, age 88, passed away on Wednesday January 13, 2021 at her residence in Portage, Michigan. Betty was born January 24, 1932 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of the late Howard Burt Brant and Mildred (Eastman) Brant. On July 8, 1950 in Angola, Indiana, she was united in marriage to Nicholas "Nick" DeVries, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2017. She was also preceded by her brothers Bun Eastman and Rex Brant; and her sister Eloise Brant.
Betty enjoyed shopping for good deals, garage saleing, genealogy and reading especially history of any kind, but particularly about her great-great-great-grandfather Chief Joseph Brant! She loved animals and owned dogs and cats her whole life, and her last cat Kitty Witty was the love of her life! Betty was very proud to have worked as a florist and loved working with flowers.
Betty is survived by her children Herman (Connie) DeVries, Rex DeVries and Millie DeVries; her grandsons Nick DeVries, James DeVries, Marc Tuinier and Matt Tuinier; her great-grandchildren Herman DeVries Jr., Alexis DeVries, Maddie Tuinier and MacKenzie Tuinier.
