Passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the age of 86. Betty was born August 5, 1930 in Kalamazoo to the late Meridian and Maurine Brown Sans. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ward "Pinky" Denaway, who preceded her in death on October 4, 1992. Betty loved all animals and the fat squirrels in her yard will miss her, not to mention Elvis, her cat. She loved to cook and watched all of the cooking shows on TV to get her ideas. She also loved her train trips with her family to Chicago. Betty was employed for more than four decades as an accountant for the Eplee CPA office in Kalamazoo and made many lifelong friends through work. Betty is survived by her children, Marcia (John) Johnson, Mary (Jerome) Denaway-Root and Edward Denaway; 1 granddaughter, Cody Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was also preceded in death by her brother, David Sans. The family will greet friends on Saturday, December 3rd from 12-1:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where a memorial service will begin at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Portage South Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty's name may be directed to Kalamazoo Humane Society or to Alley Cat Rescue, 3904 Rhode Island Ave., Brentwood, MD 20722.
