Gus McDade, age 64, passed away on Friday evening, June 17, 2016 in Kalamazoo. He was born on June 2, 1952 in Flint, MI a son of Augustus P. and Mary (Petro) McDade. He worked in various manufacturing jobs and currently was employed at Mann + Hummel. Gus was an avid outdoorsman and loved to go fishing. On October 20, 1979 Gus married the former Susan Makowski in the Cathedral of St. Augustine. Gus is survived by his wife, Susan; two children, Jon A. McDade of Kalamazoo and Jessica (Kalan) McPherson of Portage; a granddaughter Leona McPherson; His parents Augustus and Mary McDade of Boca Raton, FL; six siblings, James (Margee) McDade, Pat Armstrong, Cecelia McDade, Mark (Nancy) McDade, Paul McDade and Matthew (Michelle) McDade, a brother-in-law, Dave (Judy) Makowski; three sisters-in-law, Pat (Carl) Martensen, Barb Makowski and Paula Makowski; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4PM and 6-8PM Thursday, June 23rd at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Westside Chapel 3926 South 9th Street. Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10AM Friday, June 24th in the Cathedral of St. Augustine, 542 W. Michigan Ave., with Msgr. Thomas A. Martin, Celebrant. Inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery will follow. Memorials may be directed the charity of one's choice.
