Went to be with her Lord, Sunday February 7, 2016. Althea was born July 19, 1916 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Elco and Anna (Laning) Van Donselaar. She was a former member of Heritage Christian Reformed Church and current member of Southern Heights Church. Althea was a nurse for 49 years working at Borgess Hospital and the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. Her warm hospitality extended to everyone; by nature, Althea was a loving caregiver. Her greatest joy was taking care of her children and grandchildren. On November 26, 1944 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Spencer Campbell who preceded her in death on May 13, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Campbell in 1972; sister and brothers, Theda Campbell, Gerald, Jake, and Johny Van Donselaar. Althea is survived by her children, Bob (Lynda) Campbell of Valparaiso, IN, David (Laurie) Campbell of Newark, DE, Carolyn (Ed) Douma of Byron Center, Jim (Cathy) Campbell of Kalamazoo, Karen (Ken) VanderLugt of Kalamazoo; daughter-in-law, Mary Campbell of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren, Kerri (Mike) Leetmaa, Craig Campbell, Nathan Campbell, Greg Douma, Rachelle (Richie) Palma, Kyle (Maggie) Campbell, Bryan Campbell, Shane Campbell, Scott (Erin) VanderLugt, and Alex VanderLugt; 4 great-grandchildren, Kaylin Douma, Keagan and Emery Palma, and Spencer Campbell; sister-in-law, Evelyn Van Donselaar; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including a special nephew, Randy (Sandie) Campbell of Alpine, TN and niece, Kathleen Campbell of Lady Lakes, FL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, February 11 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street with Pastor Dan Sarkipato officiating, followed by a luncheon in the Westside Chapel family reception center. Committal services will be held at 2:30pm in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Wednesday, February 10 from 6-8pm at the Westside Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or the Salvation Army.
