Alfred James "Jim" Harding, age 75 of Kalamazoo, died at home on July 7, 2021. He was born May 22, 1946, in Kalamazoo, the son of Henry and Thelma (Fitzsimmons) Harding. Jim was a 1964 graduate of Loy Norrix High School. After attending Kellogg Community College, Jim became a forklift driver. He worked for 32 years at Mead Paper and retired after 8 years from Ralston Foods. Jim was a member of Lutheran Church of the Savior before transferring his membership to Trinity Lutheran Church. On August 27, 1966, he married Diana VanDusen. Many people had experienced Jim's gifts of music with his singing and had gifted numerous families by singing at funerals. He loved to keep up with many friends and family online and really enjoyed watching court tv shows. Jim's family includes his wife, Diana Harding; his children: James Harding, Jeffrey Harding, and Sarah Harding; his grandchildren: Timothy Harding, Daniel & Sierra Harding, Kurstin Anglin, and Kyler Evert; his 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Mary Plyley, Robert Harding, Donald Harding, and Fred Jacobs; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters: Ione Smith, James Jacobs, and Gerald Cobine. Friends may visit with his family on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 South Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49007, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, American Heart Association, or the ASPCA.
