COLEMAN, Zelda M.
Of Portage, MI Mrs. Coleman went to be with her Lord Tuesday evening, June 2, 2009 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, she was born June 25, 1916 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Ray and Beulah Atwater Upson. Zelda was a very active life member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Portage Post #5855, and attended Calvary Reformed Church. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, swimming, walking, and playing cards with her family and friends. She was united in marriage to Myrle Slater in 1936 until his passing in 1953. Zelda was then united in marriage to Kenneth Coleman in 1963 until his passing in 2004. Also preceding her in death were 1 daughter, Sharon Kramer in 2008; her parents, Ray and Beulah Upson; 1 sister, Gertrude Wing; and 1 brother, Dale Upson. Surviving are 1 daughter, Dolores Howard Wilcox of Kalamazoo; 4 grandchildren, Wendy Wilcox of Vicksburg, Robin Jerry DeBoer of Allegan, Marc Kellie Kramer of Three Rivers, and Kevin Gwyneth Kramer of Three Rivers; 11 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, John Kramer of Schoolcraft. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Calvary Reformed Church 7829 S. 5th Street, with Rev. Greg VanHeukelom officiating, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the times of service. Private inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
