Kalamazoo "Vonnie" died from pancreatic cancer on June 14, 2010. She was born May 4, 1929 in Kalamazoo to Mildred Currie & Dellmore Moffett. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 61 years, Richard Charles Byce, Jr.; her daughter, Linda Byce Winkelmann of Holland, MI and son, William John Laura Byce of Maple Valley, WA; her much loved grandchildren, Jeffrey Winkelmann Stephanie Evergreen of Kalamazoo, PFC Timothy Randall Winkelmann Michigan National Guard, Kathleen Moffett Kelly Bennett of Milton, WA, Caitlyn Agnes Byce of Ellensburg, WA; a treasured great grandson, Byce Namasté Evergreen of Kalamazoo; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Rothrock of Kalamazoo. She also leaves behind many dear friends, cousins, nieces and a nephew. Preceding her in death are her parents and a dear son, Steven Charles Byce. Vonnie graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School with honors and attended the University of Michigan. She was very involved in volunteering: Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts of America, Service Club of Kalamazoo, Service Club Honoraries of Kalamazoo, and Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. She was a Deacon and lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo. She and Dick greatly enjoyed sailing/cruising the Great Lakes, landscaping, staining and refinishing their homes and furniture, birds, traveling and reading. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 321 W. South St. on Friday, June 18, 2010, beginning at 2:30 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ministry With Community, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, Loaves and Fishes or First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo. Please visit
