Yvonne Palmer "Bonnie" Brown passed away July 26, 2020. She was born November 23, 1950 in Kalamazoo to John and Shirley (Vose) Palmer.
Bonnie attended Michigan State University for her Bachelor's degree and pursued her Master's degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. She spent most of her working career as an elementary school teacher in Petersburg, Virginia. When they moved to Darien, Connecticut, she began working in Real Estate and continued to fulfill her passion for teaching as a Sunday School teacher. Bonnie also enjoyed breeding and raising Bernese Mountain Dogs.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, John I. Palmer.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Jessica (Alexander) van Voorhees and Robert "Bo" (Julie) Brown IV; mother, Shirley Palmer; five grandchildren, Jackson and Charlie van Voorhees and Madeleine, Rory and Clara Brown; sister, Cristy (Jeffrey) Hanover; and nieces, Jennifer (Darin) Ellard, Katie Hanover, and Julie (Jeremy) Ward.
The family would like to express a warm thank you to Gloria Garza, Bonnie's caregiver who provided the utmost care through the years.
Per Bonnie's wishes, cremation will take place. A private graveside service for the family will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, with designation to The Palmer Family Fund.
