McNees, Wilma J.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Wilma Jeanette Napp McNees went home to be with her Savior and Lord, on May 13th, 2013, she was 75 years old. She passed away at her home after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was born to William J. and Anna Yonkman Napp on April 12th, 1938 in Kalamazoo , the 5th of six children. Wilma loved life, and she loved her family and friends. She was a generous, kind, and loving person who touched the lives of everyone around her. She loved to joke and would do anything to get you to laugh. She loved deeply and would demonstrate that love in ways too numerous to list. She married Donald McNees on June 19th, 1959 they were married for 53 years. Donald was her primary caregiver for the last six years of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Napp, her brothers, John Napp and Garrett Napp, and her nephews Terry VanDenBerg and Daniel Schiedel. She is survived by her spouse, Don McNees, two children, Michelle Jeff Hanson of Portage, MI and Kevin Karen McNees of Alto, MI, along with her grandchildren, Carissa Hanson, Laura Hanson, Chelsea McNees, Hayley McNees and Keaton McNees. Surviving siblings include Anna VanDenBerg, Jennie Robert Schiedel, William Jr. Janet Napp, as well as sisters-in-law Gerrie Napp and Hazel Carl Bussema. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Wilma worked as a homemaker for the majority of her adult life. She worked at Gibson Guitar and WMU, and retired from WMU Support Services in the early 90's. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling and dining out, especially at Judy's restaurant in Otsego, MI . Even towards the end of her life she wanted to go to Judy's for a meal. She was a woman of faith and loved sending cards and notes of encouragement. She was a member of Bloomingdale Christian Church for the last 30 years of her life. Family will greet friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Funeral will take place on Saturday at 11:00 o'clock at Bloomingdale Christian Church, 208 E. Pine St., Bloomingdale. Pastor Bill Vande Giessen will officiate. A private committal will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allegan Wings of Hope Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
