BUMP, Wilma Arline
Kalamazoo Wilma died peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, May 1, 2010. She was born May 4, 1936, in Hastings, MI, a daughter of Andrew and Christianna Pickthorn Service and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for most of her life. Wilma was a member of Lighthouse Community Church and was a past-president of Women's Missions and a director of Christian Youth Crusaders. She was a professional cake decorator and a master baker, specializing in wedding cakes. Wilma also was a baker for the Parchment Public Schools. On August 19, 1955, Wilma was united in marriage with Clarence Junior Bump who preceded her in death on January 28, 2008. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Herb Service; a son-in-law, David Kugler, Sr.; and two great-granddaughters, Jordan Head and Makynzie Perkins. Surviving are: four daughters, Cheri Brett VerMeulen of Vicksburg, Robin Mike Harrison of Marcellus, Tamara Jody Reynolds Kemp of Kalamazoo and Christine Todd Turcotte of Battle Creek; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Jeanne Service of Hastings, John Dorothy Service of Dowling and Clarence Eugene Service of Hastings; a sister, Margaret Raymond Ashcraft of Nashville; a sister-in-law, Char Service of Hastings; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Wednesday morning at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., with Pastor Bruce Howell, officiating. Interment in Ft. Custer National Cemetery will follow services. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials should be directed to Susan B. Komen For the Cure. Please visit
